Marisa Guerrero

lightning field
twisted rock
dove mid flight, splitting

drift in the sand
a garden in moonlight
imagining you there
tending to me, a leaf
unfurled

inside and outside, both revealed
unexpected tide
fence blown down, i guess

they go again, in lines of flight
seeking time and kin
each day with strict devotion
up and down the path like me

a ring encircling
settled and safe without form
perpetual memory made forever again
a creosote ring forever

a doorway between two trees
embraced in bark and mosquito bites
looking up to see wings
tied by rope woven of lilac and care
broken wing mended and flying again

break the fence

magic yarn
a muted light, framing browns and blues
pieced together
fragments of shelter

i'll put on my big boots
just to break the fence again
shining with ochre and silver
i can see the wind in your hair
the moment my eyelids shut

hold onto
the wait between each crash
i want to remember it all at once
the noise and retreat

braided together
half moon in hand dyed cloth
fading into

seeing every thing at once
hearing everything at once
feeling everything at once
paintings of lace
